THIS IS KUKUXUMUSU!

In response to the information that has been circulating regarding the departure of Mikel Urmeneta from Kukuxumusu, this is the company’s version of events:
The Ideas and Designs Factory is still working as it has been since it was founded in 1989. We currently have a team of over 30 staff members, bringing together talent, hard work, experience and professionalism in diverse fields. What’s more, this brand has thousands of followers and customers that, with their choices, make it possible for the brand to keep going. Kukuxumusu, like any other brand with a healthy position in the market, is not attributable to one person, or two, or three, even though till now the most visible individual, with the most media attention has been Mikel Urmeneta, one of its three founders.
Mikel Urmeneta was not driven out of Kukuxumusu: he is still a company partner and holds the same share percentage as he has always had, 33.3%. A third of the company is still his. The decision he took months ago to leave the day to day running of Kukuxumusu was his.
The origin of Kukuxumusu goes back to its three founding partners, but over its almost 27-year lifespan, the brand has evolved, adapting to trends, tastes, the present day… just as any other brand. Behind each design, t-shirt, pair of pyjamas, thermos, umbrella, mug… and the entire creative universe that is Kukuxumusu, there is a company that draws from its team of over 30 professionals in design, communications, marketing, commercialisation and management, the majority of whom have been part of the firm for over 10 years.
In recent years, Mikel Urmeneta has gradually and voluntarily removed himself from the day to day running of Kukuxumusu, stepping away from his role in artistic management to dedicate more time to his personal projects. The moment a new partner entered in February 2014, to rejuvenate the brand following a hard crisis which took with it many job positions, a revitalisation plan was undertaken for the company to ensure it remained afloat. Kukuxumusu repeatedly offered Mikel Urmeneta the chance to renegotiate his professional contract, but he declined, with the consequent damages that afflicted the company.
Kukuxumusu reinvents itself every day, adjusting its offer to exacting market demands, keeping the brand and its employees’ jobs alive. Right now the company continues to grow and open new markets.
The Kiss of the Flea brand retains its values, humour and essence, and will continue to tease, have fun and stir up trouble with its proposals, projects, designs, ideas and every way we can think up to kukuxumusise the world. Testis, Belorzia, Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood and the entire family of very beastly beasties from the Kukuxumusu menagerie are still fighting fit and have many more tales to tell.
If after reading this you still have any doubts, call us and we will give a longer and better explanation (at least we will try to).
