A Poster for the World Cycling Championship

Kukuxumusu will be present in the next World Cycling Championship. One of our founder-members, Mikel Urmeneta, has created the poster which will serve as the official image for this very important sports event, which will take place in Ponferrada in the month of September. Here, some of the best cyclists in the world will compete in both road trials and time trials.
The poster was presented today in Ponferrada, with the attendance of representatives from the organization which is managing this event, as well as that of Urmeneta himself, who revealed some of the details of his poster drawing. “Most times, the most difficult thing is to find simplification and to be able to bring together in a few strokes the whole weight of an event such as The World Cycling Championship in a singular city such as Ponferrada is with all the personality of its character and history behind it”.
The main motif on the poster shows a cyclist sprinting ahead, “leaving behind him a tail of speed and glory in the form of a rainbow, with the colors that the International Cyclists Union use in their logotype and official image”. Building from those colors, Urmeneta explains how, for the background, he has used “a turquoise/pastel green which is very elegant and plain, yet eye-catching and attractive”, while he has captured the city reference with a sketch of the Castle of the Templars in the horizon, one of the architectural jewels of the city of Ponferrada.
The competitions will take place between the 21st and 28th of September, with road trials and time trials for the Elite (professionals), as well as for the under-23 and the junior categories, both masculine and feminine. The professional participants will be hoping to emulate the achievements of the Portuguese cyclist Rui Costa, who beat Joaquim Rodríguez and Alejandro Valverde in the road trials and the German cyclist, Tony Martin, who became champion in the time trials in 2013.
